LGBTQ+ Counselling
Leicestershire & Online
If you are looking at this page, I would guess that you are having a hard time at the moment and are looking for some support. You’ve come to the right place.
If that is you then I get it.
For us LGBTQ+ folks it can be so hard to find a space where we feel supported, accepted and understood. I’m here to listen, to share your struggles and help you find a way to move on from what might have happened before. Together we will figure out the solutions you need to find and along the way I hope you will learn to understand yourself better, be kinder to yourself, learn what’s good for you and how to get it and feel comfortable in your own skin.
My name is Natalee, I am a counsellor based in Leicestershire, but I can help anyone in the UK as I offer sessions over the phone and online via Zoom.
I identify as a bisexual cis-female. My pronouns are she/her.
It can be really hard being queer. For a start we have to figure out for ourselves where we sit on the gender/sexuality spectrum. Things are getting better now, but I remember when I was growing up, being called “gay” was an insult, diverse relationships were not mentioned in schools and at home. It was even more difficult for our trans or non-binary friends, their identities didn’t even exist in hushed whispers back then, how were they ever meant to figure themselves out? Is that where you are right now? Are you unsure where you fit in?
There were so few resources for us that it was and still can be a real minefield for us. Even if you do know where you stand, you then have the mountain of public opinion to climb. How will our families/friends react? Will our faith communities condemn us? Will we even have somewhere to live and someone to love us once we’ve come out?
For many queer people, the worst has already happened; we’ve been rejected and condemned and left to fend for ourselves. You might have even taken some of those horrible messages onboard and begun believing that they are true, that you are not worthy of love, acceptance and inclusion. This belief by the way, is completely untrue.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. I am here to help.
To give you a little about my background; I’ve worked therapeutically with vulnerable adults struggling with a variety of issues for more than a decade. Some of the problems I have experience working with are; depression and anxiety, domestic abuse, drug and alcohol addictions, issues relating to being in the LGBT community, problems resulting from a criminal conviction and neurodiversity.
Now I focus on working with the LGBT+/GSRD (Gender, Sex and Romantic Diversities) community, with the aim of helping other members of my community find their way to happier, more fulfilled lives. I’m here to help you find your way forwards, to help you to understand yourself better, to help you to build your self-esteem and resilience and unpick some of the awful things that may have happened to you. We can all find our way to a happier, more contented life. I’m proof of that and I want to help you get there too.
If you feel ready to start looking at things more deeply and make the changes you need, then please get in touch. I look forward to working with you.
