Addiction comes in many forms.
As LGBTQ+ people, we are more likely to experience addictive traits and become addicted to unhealthy behaviours like promiscuity and substance abuse.
Often, addiction is seem as something negative which instils further shame in people.
Instead, it’s important to look at the root cause of your addiction; like trauma, neglect, abandonment.
Understanding where addiction comes from allows us to explore our connection with addiction, and seek support identifying and resolving the root cause of the addiction, than the addiction itself.
Why is sex addiction so common in the LGBTQ+ community?
To understand this, we need to first understand when sex is just sex, versus when it’s an addiction…
Ever since we’ve learned to hate ourselves for our identities there have been those who turned to drugs to medicate their feelings of worthlessness and self-loathing. Despite the strides we have made in our fight for equality, this issue remains.
Here we create a shame-free space to explore drug addiction, and find help if you’re addicted
